How the Ultherapy treatment works
Ultherapy delivers focused ultrasound energy to the same foundational layer typically addressed by surgeons during cosmetic surgery- without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. The real results appear over 2-3 months as new collagen builds, gradually lifting and tightening skin on the face and neck and smoothing out the skin or the body.

Will I need to take time off?
After an Ultherapy procedure, you can resume your normal activities immediately without having any issues. You may just look a little pink in the areas treated.
When will I see the results?
The ultimate results will take over 2-3 months, as tired collagen is replaced by the growth of new collagen. As skin continues to age, future touch up treatments can help keep pace with the natural ageing process.
What does the treatment feel like?
As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen building process has been initiated. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. Your therapist will take measures to make the experience as pleasant as possible and most patients leave comfortable and excited about the results to come.
Who is best suited for Ultherapy?
As the skin’s collagen-rebuilding processes are better the younger we are, Ultherapy delivers its best results for patients in the 30-55 year age group with only early to medium degrees of skin laxity and who don’t yet need a surgical facelift.
That is not to say that patients older than 55 cannot have Ultherapy – they certainly can, but must understand that their end-result will likely not be as good as someone much younger.
Is Hifu the same as Ultherapy?
Many people think that Hifu and Ultherapy are the same treatment. Ultherapy is similar to Hifu, but with the added benefit of real-time imaging. Additionally, while the treatments both use ultrasound to activate natural skin rejuvenation, they use different types of ultrasound beams. Aesthetic medicine involves the use of two types of ultrasound:
- High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU): used mainly for medical purposes
- Micro-focused ultrasound (MFU): utilises highly focused energy to target a specific skin layer
Which is better: Ultherapy or Hifu?
