What is Dermapen & how does Skin Needling work?
Dermapen 3™ utilises multiple needles to vertically pierce the skin with patent-pending AOVN™ (Advanced Oscillating Vertical Needle) technology. Dermapen 3™ glides over the skin, creating millions of fine channels. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients, encouraging trans-dermal delivery of these nutrients deeper into the skin to feed cells in the dermis and basal layer of the epidermis.
Dermapen 3™ systematically creates micro-punctures in the skin and the body naturally responds by launching processes to repair the physical damage. The result is an increased production of normal woven collagen, similar to that achieved by fractional laser treatments, but without the side effects and downtime. How To Care For Your Skin Between Treatments
STEP 1 Advanced Resurfacing
Your clinician will apply a suitable topical treatment to compliment your advanced skin needling. Between treatments, continue using recommended products as directed to maintain results. DP Dermaceuticals MicroDerm™ Exfoliant* is one option for gentle but effective resurfacing between treatments.
STEP 2 Hydrate and Strengthen
For best results, it’s important to keep your skin hydrated and protected from the harsh environment to make it healthy and strong. If you will be exposed to the sun, always wear appropriate sun protection.
STEP 3 Cover, Recover and Protect for Beautiful Skin
It is unlikely that you will experience any side effects after your treatment. However, if you do experience redness or sensitive skin, you may use a breathable post-procedure camouflage makeup. This will allow you to get back to your everyday activities with no one suspecting that you have even had a treatment. Frequently Asked Questions
While there is no clinical evidence that Dermapen™ Treatments counteract with any particular injectables, it is important to let your clinician know if you have had an injectable treatment, or are planning on having one done in the near future. Your clinician will be able to advise you on when to schedule your treatment appropriately.
Generally no, but you may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Application of a breathable camouflage will seal the skin and cover any redness for an immediate return to work.
For minimal needle depths, Dermapen™ Treatments are relatively painless. Treatments using depths over 0.5mm may require a topical anaesthetic cream to be applied for 15-40 minutes before the procedure. This will render the treatments virtually pain-free.
Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will become visible after 4 to 6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). The condition of your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments, especially when combined with recommended post-treatment care.
For optimal results, an appropriate regime of DP Dermaceuticals™ should be determined by your clinician to encourage the skin to strengthen (especially for thin or delicate skin areas).
